Manulife Head Office Exterior Renovations

The Manulife Head Office Exterior Renovations project is an extension of the interior renovations previously completed by Martin Simmons Sweers. This exciting exterior project was divided into three sections—a new staff drop-off area, a complete renovation of the sidewalk, driveway, parking, and planters, and a new exterior terrace complete with a walkway and pods for gathering.

The new terrace is directly linked to the cafeteria, providing a large outdoor dining area. From the terrace, a sinuous walkway connects to three gathering pods while gently meandering through the landscape, terminating at a lower pathway that leads into a larger trail system. The slope of the walkway provides an easily accessible incline from the lower landscape level to the main floor level of the cafeteria and allows for various vantage points at different heights while travelling through the landscape.

The Ipe wood decking gives a warm, tactile experience to walking through the landscape and the curved wood screens of the pods allow for a moment of privacy or a place to rest in the shade.
