Spur Line Common represents the transformation of one of the last significant urban industrial sites in Waterloo into a modern townhouse and condominium development. With a sympathetic nod to the area’s character and the site’s history, the design of this 15-acre development will also bring much needed density and attract young professional residents to the Mount Hope neighbourhood. Reid’s Heritage Homes chose Martin Simmons Sweers Architects to turn these five acres into a contemporary residential community. Extensive discussions were held with community groups and municipal staff to arrive at a design that provided an appropriate yield, and adequate parking, and blended in well with the existing urban fabric. The development includes two six-storey apartment buildings and 74 street-facing stacked townhouse units. Each apartment building contains a single level of below grade parking.
