This prominent location on King Street in Uptown Waterloo has a new eight-storey mixed-use development. With 34 residential units and 6,300 sq. ft. of office space, this attractive new tower will bring new residents and workers to the central core. This small footprint of the building and the demanding zoning restrictions challenged the design skills of the entire project team. The project team worked closely with the YNCU and City of Waterloo staff to reconcile the competing interests of the surrounding urban context. Local edge conditions include the new light rail transit corridor, a heritage neighbourhood, and commercial storefronts. This project is geared to a broad range of urban apartment dwellers—tech sector workers, empty nesters, and first-time buyers.
