Jason’s interest in architecture was nurtured through his family’s long history in art, music and construction. He studied architecture and construction in Canada, Italy, Greece, and the Netherlands. As a result, Jason's experience is rooted in 30+ years of on-site construction, interior design, design leadership, and architecture. He understands construction, sourcing products and materials, design requirements, applicable codes, the approvals process, and delivering on challenging design concepts. Following work in Toronto with YabuPushelberg and Burdifilek, Jason joined the boutique firm, Vermeulen Hind Architects, to design Health Care and Higher Education projects and to complete his experience records to become a licensed architect. Vermeulen Hind Architects would later join Perkins&Will in 2010, where Jason continued to inspire exemplary design projects as a Practice Design Lead and was a member of the Perkins&Will Design Leadership Committee until 2015. Today, at Martin Simmons Sweers, Jason continues to focus on the human experience in architecture and our client's visions. Jason’s work consistently results in successful project outcomes through an open-minded approach to project goals, problem-solving, research, and team collaboration. His work ethic and focus on design intent carry projects from early design concepts to full realization. Jason lives in Dundas, Ontario, and loves spending time with his wife and family. In his spare time, he continues to enjoy being immersed in nature.
“I thrive on finding solutions to problems; I never give up finding a way to achieve the vision the client wants. Through research and working with the rest of the team, I’m always finding new ways to design and build. That’s why I love architecture - it’s a profession that’s always changing and you’re always learning.”
