Jesse French

C.TECH
Associate, Senior Project Manager / Contract Administrator

As a kid, Jesse’s TV wasn’t tuned to cartoons but to the latest mega-buildings show on the Discovery Channel. He liked seeing the details of how something amazing can be achieved through creative problem solving and perseverance. Over the years, Jesse’s hobbies continued to reflect his passion for hands-on creation, from model building and remote-control toys as a kid, to crafting his own wooden furniture and making kitchen knives in his own backyard forge.

“My dream was to be the guy on site with the white helmet and the roll of drawings, solving problems. And today that’s what I’m doing to a T."

Jesse wears many hats today, from participating in design meetings, and shepherding tenders and working drawings through municipal approvals. Jesse coordinates contractors on site to ensure effective project handoff and final inspection at the end of the warranty period. His hands-on skills and years of experience liaising with contractors on site means Jesse can help solve problems and represent the owner’s best interest. Although Jesse pushes contractors to achieve the best possible building (on time and on budget), contractors love working with Jesse for his calm demeanour and ability to answer their questions any time of the day or night. Jesse ensures design intent at those first meetings makes it into drawings accurately and then is faithfully constructed by the contractor. It’s all about spending that time on site problem solving - with the white helmet and the drawings in hand.

“When someone onsite tells me something can’t be done, I know how it could be done. Sometimes it isn’t about whether the contractor can do it, but pushing them to have the willingness to do it.”

“I’m always excited when I find out Jesse is going to be working on my project. He’s calm, very well organized, and brings a great sense of humour.”

“I really enjoyed working on the Quantum Valley Investments office project. It looks modern, clean, and simple, but that is incredibly difficult to achieve. A cast concrete building like this requires every detail to be exactly right in design and construction. Even a light switch can’t be moved. It required that I spend a lot of time on site to make it work.”
